Leaves
Has long, toothed leaves with spines around the edges and on the central rib on the underside. The flower stem leaves wrap around the stem at the base of the leaf.
Flowers
Has deep yellow, long, thin petals with toothed ends on the end of a hairy stem that can be about 1.5 metres in height.
Habitat
Almost anywhere there is soil but particularly around the edges of arable fields and the surrounding area.
Possible Confusion
Looks very like Prickly Sowthistle, pictured, but Prickly Sowthistle is much smaller, not reaching the same height as Perennial Sow-thistle and has less deep yellow flowers.
