We will meet at 12pm at a private entrance to Blenheim Palace near Hanborough train station. Please don’t type Blenheim Palace into your navigation system or you will be taken to the main entrance of Blenheim Palace. The post code OX29 8LB will take you there instead.
Once at the main road in Long Hanborough you will have to turn to a private road, there is a sign advertising Blenheim Palace next to it. The turning that you need to go down is opposite the Churchill Court Hotel. If approaching from the West it is the first left turning after the train station, and if approaching from the East it is the first right turning after the industrial estate.
Once you go down the private lane off the main road, you will pass a house on your right. You can park your car on the side of the lane anywhere after the house, our foraging teacher will be around to meet you at 12pm.
All our courses start with a talk on our foraging rules. We’ll then set off for roughly a 2.5 hour walk around the area, identifying the edible and poisonous species we find, and picking some for the meal later on. Along the way, we’ll stop for some pre-prepared wild food treats. At the end, we’ll create a meal based on what has been found. Then after the course, you will be emailed course notes to help you remember everything you have learnt.
We recommend you bring
- Comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and footwear
- Cup to try our (warm) drinks during the walk
- Plate and cutlery for the meal at the end of the course
- Water / drink to stay hydrated
- Camera, note pad & pen
Under 12 year olds can come for free, within reason; but please let us know how many will be coming in advance.
3:30pm is only an approximate finish time and depending on certain factors, the course could run until 4pm.
PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THE MAIN BLENHEIM PALACE ADDRESS ON THEIR WEBSITE AS THAT WILL TAKE YOU TO THE WRONG PLACE.
