ABOUT THE COURSE
These courses will be held around Notgrove, a beautiful Cotswold village with rolling hillsides and various species of mature trees. The various environments around the village allow for plenty of flora and fungi to flourish.
We’ll be meeting outside The Nuttery Cafe, at the heart of the Notgrove Estate. Located just outside Bourton-on-the-Water, it is within easy reach of Cheltenham, Gloucester, Cirencester, Burford, Oxford, Swindon and Evesham.
The course starts with a short introduction on what to look for, a talk about our Foraging Code and a brief summary of the Countryside Act, where it relates to foraging.
Then we’ll set off on a roughly 2.5 hour, slow-paced walk around the village, teaching you how to identify the different edible and poisonous plants, flowers, fruits and mushrooms that we find.
We will stop along the way for some seasonal wild food treats, such as our lovely hogweed and wild garlic soup, elderflower champagne or fruit leathers.
Then we’ll finish the day with a tasty wild food lunch based on what we have found. All of our food is seasonal so what we make depends on recent weather and what is around at that time of year. In Spring we will be making use of the fresh wild greens and in Autumn the array of tasty wild mushrooms that the area has to offer.
After the course we will email you a list of everything we talk about on the day; to help you remember what you have learnt.
If you’re looking for accommodation, Notgrove Holidays offer a selection of luxurious safari tents, glamping pods and cottages, in a charming countryside setting. You can find more information or make a booking on their website here.
Parking is available by the Nuttery Cafe, but should it be looking a little busy there, please park in the Walled Garden car park, just off the Manor drive. What 3 Words: \\\start.crackling.grudges
